Hi! I’m Fran McCollum. I live in suburbia with my husband, and we are among the few trend-setters here initiating low-energy measures at home, a low-water landscape, composting and rain catchment. I have even cooked in a solar oven & can recommend it! We live in harmony with nature whenever we can, to protect the earth and to enjoy maximum health. Our latest project is organic square foot gardening using recycled plastic lumber. Like many people, & maybe like you, my interest in avoiding chemicals started with health challenges. At first I had no clue as to where to focus my efforts and money. Only when I became highly sensitive to chemicals in my carpet, facial products, etc. did I start getting a clue, because my skin was telling me there was something wrong with items in our household. I had avoided most chapsticks and sunscreens for years without thinking why they'd sting and blister; I thought it was "just me". Then carpets, old foam, paint, and adhesives caused worsening reactions in me - blistered lips, rashes, swellings, respiratory problems, and the list goes on. Finally I read about MCS or multiple chemical sensitivities - caused by accumulated chemicals and also by chemicals cross-reacting. To sum up, I find that the more I avoid chemicals, the healthier I am! Several allergies have disappeared also. It's tricky to know how to spend wisely to improve your health, and not end up buying ingredients that cancel out the beneficial ones. Now your dollars will go to 100% pure healthful products for your body. Knowledge is power, and the wisdom to spend wisely is peace of mind! Like me, you can use the healing power so generously made available in nature. At the same time, you promote paying a fair wage for responsible and sustainably-made products. Making a change is not easy; I spend lots of time deciding, because my standards are now so high I need to know I'm making the very best choice & that I won't regret it! After a long search, I am thankful now that I have the wisdom to avoid cheap, harmful substitutes and instead use the blessings provided in nature to lavish these pure products on myself and anyone who is ready to use only the best!
